BRENTWOOD -- To maintain consistency with neighboring far East Contra Costa school districts, the Brentwood Union School District recently increased its daily substitute teacher pay rate from $102 to $112 for the next academic year.

The last time that the district boosted its sub pay rate was in 2007, according to district officials. The school districts in Brentwood, Oakley, Knightsen and Byron have maintained the same pay rate over the past seven years in an effort to share a pool of qualified substitute teachers, and the other far East County districts are also expected to implement this rate increase effective this summer.

Brentwood will pay $128 per day for substitutes who take on long-term teaching assignments that are more than 19 consecutive days.
