Antioch's annual Fourth of July festivities are moving from the waterfront to the fairgrounds this year. How do you feel about the change and do you plan to attend?

Please limit your responses to a few sentences, and be sure to include your full name and city of residence.

I LIKE it more on the waterfront.

Charity Ray

Antioch

I DEFINITELY prefer waterfront over the dusty, hot fairgrounds. Probably will not attend.

MY FAMILY may go for a bit, and I like the idea. We used to have a Fourth of July celebration at the fairgrounds many years ago. Hope there is security.

Chris Briggs

I DEFINITELY like it better at the waterfront. Not only is nicer looking, but it's cooler as well! I might attend.

Tiffany Michelle Honsberger

DON'T KNOW what you people where thinking. But the fact is you can make $5 off each person that parks.

Aletha Page Evaro

GATEWAY TO the Delta at the fairgrounds will cost $5 per car for parking? Boo!

Anthony Moss

Antioch

I WOULDN'T go to the fair grounds for anything, Bring it back to the waterfront.

Maria Fernandez

I ENJOY the waterfront as it's the heart of our town. But I will take just being able to see a parade!

Valerie Biggs-Hernandez

Antioch

WATERFRONT is better!

Tanya Beeb

THERE'S SOMETHING about fireworks over water that makes the whole show magical. The fairgrounds are tacky.

Chris Coles-Morales

Antioch

THE VIEW AT the waterfront makes it special and worth the trip. At the fairgrounds, it is just like a carnival with fireworks, and the fairgrounds does not have a good reputation. I won't attend at fairgrounds.

Jill Aguilera

THE WATERFRONT is so much nicer. It's cooler and safer. It's been there for the last 27 years that I have lived in Antioch. Why change it now? Doesn't make sense to me.

Michelle Bowen

WATERFRONT IS MUCH better. I've lived here my whole life and love the barges floating by and the fireworks reflected on the water. We will go either way as we are in walking distance of both, but the waterfront is preferred.

Laura Gentile

Antioch

DOESN'T MATTER to me where it is. Still glad to have the festivities this year. Sign of an economic recovery!

Jennifer Green-Villalba

Antioch

WATERFRONT! We do have the luxury of the water that most towns don't, why not use it!

Nicole Coletta

DANGEROUS. They tried that before.

Chuck Smith

WHAT A SCREWED up move. I would never go to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks unless I could carry a weapon for self-defense. Watching the fireworks at the river is the only reason I would go to Antioch's Fourth of July activities.

Steve Verduzco

I BELIEVE I saw signs that there would be fair-type activities at the fairgrounds along with fireworks. I will not attend because of the type of crowd it draws. I would not feel safe taking my young grandchildren, which is the same reason I haven't been to the county fair in years. Plus, having them over the Delta is nostalgic.

This week's question:

With drought conditions persisting, what steps are you taking to conserve water this summer and do you believe current conservation efforts will be sufficient to ensure East County's water needs?

NO! I WILL never go watch fireworks there. Too many people, too many problems. It's getting closer to where I live, and it pushes problems closer to home. Doesn't anyone remember the problems there were when they set fireworks off at the high school? I remember fires broke out all around the school.

Anthony Buffo

I WON'T go to the fairgrounds because of the crowd it will attract! The riverfront atmosphere is so much better.

Dannette Bewley

Antioch

I BELIEVE THE change had something to do with the train tracks. People walk or stand on them, and the trains are unable to get through. In regard to the question, I'm not sure if we'll attend the fairgrounds event. Sounds hot, dusty and crowded. Will probably find somewhere quiet to watch (not giving away any secret locations).

Noelle Wellie Towne

Antioch

WHEN I LIVED on Fourth Street, we would watch the fireworks from the front porch of my home. We could walk around downtown during the day, too. The fairgrounds seems to be a dreary location at best.

Jane Ramsey

Martinez

THE FAIRGROUNDS gives the organizers more room to offer kids and family activities leading up to the fireworks show. I think it will work out just fine.
