ANTIOCH -- A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a teenager wounded in Antioch, police said Thursday.
Charles Johnson III, of Antioch, was booked at County Jail in Martinez on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for the July 5 shooting, according to Antioch police.
A 17-year-old was shot in the leg at 4:50 p.m. at Williamson Ranch Park at 5000 Lone Tree Way, and was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released. Two 19-year-old victims were shot at but not struck, according to police. Johnson was arrested Wednesday.
The shooting came amidst a violent 11-day period in Antioch that left 1 person dead and 13 others wounded in six separate incidents. Antioch city leaders authorized police overtime to deploy the violent crime suppression unit to troubled parts of the city after the fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon.
