BETHEL ISLAND -- County road crews will be doing maintenance work on Bethel Island roads next week, which could delay drivers by up to 15 minutes.
Contra Costa County Public Works Department will on the island through Aug. 29, spraying liquid asphalt on Bethel Island and Jersey Island roads as well as every residential road on the island and Sandmound Boulevard.
The work also involves spreading a layer of small rocks on top of the asphalt.
Most of the work will be done between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays, although crews might be sweeping up excess rock until 10 p.m. and on Saturday.
Electronic message boards will remind motorists about the work before it starts.
Specific location and schedule updates are posted on the county's website at www.cccounty.us/surfacetreatmentinfo.
