KNIGHTSEN — Parents will be asked to do more to aid the Knightsen School District.
Funding for sports and field trips will come out of parents pockets instead of the district's general fund — just a few of the recommendations proposed Wednesday by the Knightsen Teachers Association to help save jobs.
Teachers voted unanimously to have sport programs funded from fees, donations and possibly local sponsors. In the same manner, money for entry fees associated with field trips will be dependent on parents.
The association also recommended asking parents of students at Knightsen Elementary for a $20 donation to help with upkeep of the pool, which has been a part of the curriculum.
All together, the changes stand to save $45,000 from the district's general fund for the 2009-10 school year. The school board adopted the resolution unanimously.
