Five people have applied to fill the Trustee Area 6 seat on the Santa Clara County Board of Education vacated by Craig Mann.
The applicants are Kendra Fujino of San Jose, a secondary-school teacher; Javier M. González of San Jose, director, local government affairs for the California Restaurant Association; Darcie Green of San Jose, a community and government relations manager at Kaiser Permanente South Bay and also a trustee of the Alum Rock School District; Jessica Rodriguez of San Jose, a preschool teacher; and Anita Sunseri of San Jose, a juvenile justice commissioner with Santa Clara County.
On Oct. 17 the six members of the county board of education are scheduled to interview and vote on candidates in public.
The seat represents areas in San Jose served by the Alum Rock, Mount Pleasant and Franklin-McKinley elementary school districts.
The appointee will fill out two years remaining in the term of Mann, who resigned last month. While originally elected to represent Trustee Area 6, redistricting earlier this year placed his address into the adjacent trustee area 7, currently represented by trustee Julia Hover-Smoot of Morgan Hill.
