SAN JOSE -- A young gang member was pepper sprayed and taken into custody while two others got away after they went to Pioneer High School and attacked a student Wednesday, according to police reports.

The three walked onto the campus on Blossom Hill Road near Almaden Expressway around 1:40 p.m. and began punching the student numerous times while shouting gang slogans, according to the report.

A campus police officer and school staff member went to help the student, and the campus officer sprayed one of the attackers to subdue him. The other two fled and remain at large.

The victim had minor injuries, according to police.

The captured suspect was booked into juvenile hall.
