TUESDAY, Oct. 13 STORM DAMAGE — Officers and maintenance crews responded to several reports of tree limbs down, clogged storm drains and flooding in various parts of Albany due to the heavy rain and winds. HOME BREAK-IN — A resident on Marin Avenue reported that they discovered that someone had attempted to break into their home during the morning hours while the resident was in the house. Nothing appeared to have been taken but a window in the kitchen was open and the screen was torn. WARRANT — At about 8 p.m. officers contacted a group which had built a bonfire near the overpass on Buchanan Street. They arrested one of the group, a 44-year-old Oakland man, for an outstanding warrant. He was cited and released.WEDNESDAY, Oct. 14 AUTO BREAK-IN — During the night someone broke into a car parked on Pomona Avenue by smashing the window and stole items from inside. THEFT — A resident on Solano Avenue reported that during the morning hours someone stole money and jewelry from their home. There were no witnesses. WARRANT — Officers arrested a 21-year-old Richmond man at about 9 p.m. near San Pablo and Fairmount Avenues for an outstanding warrant. WARRANT — At about 9:30 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block of Ohlone on reports from a woman who was calling from a phone booth, saying that she was in a fight with her boyfriend and needed assistance. Officers arrested the 27-year-old Oakland woman for an outstanding warrant.THURSDAY, Oct. 15 WARRANT — At about 4 a.m. officers arrested a 45-year-old transient man from Richmond near Central Avenue and Jacuzzi Street for an outstanding warrant. BABY—Officers responded to the parking lot at Target on the 1100 block of Eastshore at about 1 p.m. when Security reported that an infant was left sleeping in a car parked near the garden center. AUTO BREAK-IN — At about 5 p.m. officers responded to reports that someone had smashed the window of a car parked at the waterfront and a purse and other items were taken from inside. There were no witnesses. DUI & DISORDERLY CONDUCT — Officers stopped a vehicle on the 1000 block of San Pablo Avenue at about 10 p.m. for a traffic violation and arrested the driver, a 30-year-old Pittsburg man, for suspicion of DUI. At about 10:30 p.m. officers arrested a 49-year-old woman at the same location for suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.FRIDAY, Oct. 16 NOISE — Shortly after midnight officers responded to the area near Castro and Jackson streets on reports of a party with loud music and noise. FIRE — Firefighters responded to the area near Buchanan Street and Interstate 80 on reports of a motorcycle on fire. DOUBLE ARREST — At about 5 a.m. officers arrested two Richmond men, ages 33 and 47, near Interstate 80 and Central Avenue for outstanding warrants. The 33-year-old man was additionally charged with suspicion of possession of burglary tools and the 47-year-old man was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. AUTO THEFT — Officers responded to the 7-Eleven store on the 1500 block of Solano Avenue at about 8 a.m. on reports that three women and a man, who were suspected of stealing candy the previous day, were back in the store and refusing to leave. Officers contacted the group and arrested the 35-year-old Berkeley man for suspicion of car theft and being in possession of a stolen car. WARRANT — At about 8 p.m. officers contacted a person who was walking in traffic near San Pablo Avenue and Monroe Street and arrested the 57-year-old Albany man for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. DRUGS — Officers responded to reports from neighbors at about 10:30 p.m. that people were smoking marijuana at Albany High School on the 600 block of Key Route Boulevard. They arrested an 18-year-old Concord man for suspicion of marijuana and drugs for sale.SATURDAY, Oct. 17 FIRE — Officers responded to two reports of a voting sign that was on fire on Portland Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. AUTO BREAK-IN — At about noon, a woman reported that someone had smashed the window of her car and stole her purse and other items from inside while her car was parked at the Albany waterfront. She reported that the incident happened about 20 minutes earlier and one of her credit cards had already been used twice. DRUGS — Officers stopped a vehicle near Washington Avenue and Jackson Street at about 4 p.m. for a traffic violation. They arrested the driver, a 23-year-old Richmond man, for suspicion of possession of an open container or drugs while driving and driving without a license. He was cited at the scene and allowed to depart. He car was towed. WARRANT — At about 12:30 p.m. officers responded to the 800 block of San Pablo Avenue on reports of a person yelling and threatening people walking by and being very aggressive. Officers arrested the 54-year-old man for an outstanding warrant.SUNDAY, Oct. 18 DUI — Officers stopped a vehicle on San Pablo Avenue at about 2 a.m. for a traffic violation and arrested the driver, a 40-year-old Vallejo man, for suspicion of DUI. DUI — At about 3 a.m., officers arrested a 43-year-old American Canyon man on Interstate 80 near Powell Street for suspicion of DUI. EXPOSURE — At about 9 a.m. officers investigated reports that a person described as a white male adult with blond hair, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, thin build and hunched over, wearing a light green jacket, no pants and no shoes, had exposed himself to people on Gooding Way and Red Oaks Way in the UC Village. The suspect was gone when officers arrived. THEFT — A person described as a black male adult, about 25 years old, wearing a gray jacket and bluejeans, reportedly stole a bottle of wine from a business on San Pablo Avenue at about 6 p.m. The person was last seen walking east on Solano Avenue and was gone when officers arrived.Monday, Oct 19 DUI — Shortly after midnight officers stopped a vehicle near Buchanan and Adams streets for a traffic violation. They arrested the driver, a 25-year-old San Francisco man, for suspicion of DUI. DUI — Officers stopped a vehicle on the 800 block of Talbot Avenue for a traffic violation and arrested the driver, a 25-year-old Berkeley man, for suspicion of DUI at about 2 a.m.— Kristina Osborn |
