EL CERRITO -- The Friends of the Cerrito Theater are hosting a gala party to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the city's first movie house at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and report that tickets are going fast.

The festivities at the renovated theater now known as the Rialto Cinemas Cerrito at 10070 San Pablo Ave. will include live music from Cookie Reese's "Any Reason," and a special program before the screening of the evening's feature, "You Can't Take It With You."

The Oscar-winning 1938 screwball comedy was directed by Frank Capra and stars James Stewart and Jean Arthur, and a supporting cast that includes Lionel Barrymore.

"Dress in 1930s era fashion or dress festively -- there will be a costume contest for men and women," advises the friends group.

Admission is $8, available online or at the box office. For tickets or detail visit www.rialtocinemas.com/cerrito/.
