Police have responded to several residential burglaries in El Cerrito in recent days, including one that led to a homeless woman's arrest.

Officers responded around 10:10 a.m. Friday to a report of a break-in at a trailer home in the 5800 block of El Dorado Street, according to police.

Police said a resident reported that a known suspect had entered her trailer and stolen various items.

Officers found the suspect, a 40-year-old homeless woman, a short distance away and found her with some of the items reported stolen. The property was returned to the victim and the suspect was arrested and taken to county jail in Martinez.

Police said a second burglary was reported Friday between 5:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

A resident returned home in the 900 block of Richmond Street to find that someone had entered their home through an unlocked rear window and made off with a laptop, according to police.

Officers responded to another home break-in in the 2700 block of Del Monte Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Saturday after a security alarm went off, police said.

A suspect had apparently tried to enter the home through a rear window before kicking open the front door.

Officers searched the area with the help of a police K-9 but were unable to find a suspect.
