new template screenshot
A screenshot of the new MercuryNews.com template in a Safari browser. Launched the morning of Thursday July 25, 2013, the new design focuses on faster page delivery and organizes previously cluttered headlines into a navigation bar.
We have redesigned the Bay Area News Group's network of websites, including MercuryNews.com, ContraCostaTimes.com, InsideBayArea.com, with a cleaner look, faster page load and easier navigation to sections and stories.

Among the changes you will see:

-- A new expanded navigation bar. When you roll over a topic such as News, Sports or My Town, you'll see links to additional sections and articles. Scroll down to find more sections. Click Tools in the navigation bar to sign up for email newsletters and breaking news alerts, or to manage your e-edition or print subscription.

-- A less cluttered homepage and sections that are better organized. You'll find the latest stories on the left side of the homepage and the biggest news of the day featured in the center of the page.

-- A redesigned Media Center that showcases the latest photo galleries from the Bay Area News Group's award-winning photo staff, along with other galleries feature photos from across the country and around the world.

-- A new Bottom Line feature that highlights the quirky, fun stories everyone is talking about.
