SAN FRANCISCO -- Third baseman Pablo Sandoval is expected to begin a rehab assignment Friday in San Jose, manager Bruce Bochy said.

Sandoval is on the 15-day disabled list with an injured left foot. He is eligible to come off the injured list June 24, the day the Giants play the Los Angeles Dodgers at the start of a 10-game road trip.

"We expect him to be ready to go then," Bochy said. "He's doing really well right now."

Bochy said center fielder Angel Pagan is doing well in his rehab from a hamstring injury and that Pagan also should be ready to return for the first Dodgers game.

In other news, second baseman Marco Scutaro's left pinkie is healing well enough for Scutaro to return to action as soon as Tuesday.

Scutaro has missed the past six games, including Monday night's game against the San Diego Padres, after getting hit by a pitch against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"That's how close he is," Bochy said. "He's been taking batting practice on the field."

Finally, starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong might have two of the five pins in his right pinkie removed Tuesday, Bochy said.

If doctors opt to remove the two pins, Vogelsong's rehab will be accelerated, Bochy said.

Vogelsong has been on the disabled list since the day after he got hit in the midst of a swing May 21.

There is no firm timetable for Vogelsong's return.
