Last week: Tiger Woods scored the deciding point in the United States' 18½-15½ victory over the International team in the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village (Ohio). Woods beat Richard Sterne 1 up to finish 4-1. The Americans won the event for the fifth straight time.

Notes: The tournament opens the 2013-14 season. ... Billy Horschel and Gary Woodland are the only Tour Championship qualifiers in the field. Horschel finished 16th in the FedEx Cup standings, and Woodland was 23rd. ... International team members Angel Cabrera, Hideki Matsuyama and Marc Leishman are the only Presidents Cup players at CordeValle. ... Last week: China's Shanshan Feng eagled the par-5 18th for a victory over Stacy Lewis in the Reignwood LPGA Classic, the tour's first event in China.

Last year: Bernhard Langer closed with a 9-under 63 for a two-shot victory over Jay Don Blake.

Last event: Kirk Triplett successfully defended his First Tee Open title at Pebble Beach on Sept. 29.

Note: Six-time major champion Nick Faldo is making his third tour start.
