DUBLIN -- Luke Sims has been hired as this city's new community development director, filling a vacancy created by the retirement last month of Jeri Ram.

Sims worked as San Leandro community development director for five years before he was picked by Dublin City Manager Joni Pattillo for the Dublin post. He started at his new job Oct. 8.

Sims has more than three decades experience in working for cities, including Pasadena, Temple City, San Pablo and San Leandro, according to a statement from Dublin.

The population of Dublin, one of Alameda County's fast growing cities, has grown from 14,300 people in 1982 to about 47,000 residents.
