HERCULES — Bay Area authors Derick and Jackie Savage will discuss their book "Sunrise Over South Africa" in a free presentation at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at the Hercules Library, 109 Civic Drive. The book is a travel memoir that focuses on locales such as Table Mountain, Cape Point, Robben Island, Cape Winelands in Paarl, Johannesburg and Kruger National Park.

The authors write about the people they met on their travels, "the encouraging spirit of those who have lived through apartheid, and their ability to bounce back through tense times of racial upheaval."

The discussion will include a slide show; a question-and-answer session will follow.
