Knights senior Jakari Johnson sat out only one play after breaking his middle finger in the third quarter, igniting host Castlemont over the Wildcats on homecoming night.

Johnson ran for 144 yards and passed for 112 more, as the Knights (4-3, 3-0 Oakland Athletic League) stayed a game ahead of Oakland Tech and Fremont in the Oakland Athletic League. Johnson's second-half heroics also seemed to awaken his teammates, as Castlemont forced three fumbles in the second half.

Marquis McFadden scored two touchdowns for Castlemont, and Darrien Wood caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Johnson. McFadden's two fourth-quarter scores erased a 20-19 deficit and give the Knights a 31-20 lead with :07 seconds left.

Damante Horton scored twice for the Wildcats (2-5-1, 0-3), the second on a 70-yard kickoff return as time ran out.

Oakland built an early lead by scoring two plays into its second possession. Horton's 44-yard punt return to the Castlemont 6-yard line set up Earl Harris' 1-yard plunge. Oakland then intercepted Johnson on Castlemont's next possession, and Dylon Mafi caught an 18-yard pass for a score.
