ST. HELENA -- The visiting St. Mary's High football team scored touchdowns on its first three possessions and let its defense do the rest in a 24-7 win over fourth-seeded St. Helena on Friday in the North Coast Section Division IV quarterfinals.

Fifth-seeded St. Mary's (8-4) will play the winner of Saturday's game between No. 9 Piner and No. 1 San Marin in the semifinals next week.

The first possession for St. Mary's was a eight-play, 76-yard drive which was capped by a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ian Bonde to Ben Schrider. Then, three plays after the Panthers blocked a St. Helena (9-3) punt, running back Tamarik Pierce found the end zone on a 5-yard run to give St. Mary's a 14-0 lead.

The Panthers then took a 21-0 lead after Lorenzo Logwood scored on a 41-yard touchdown run with 3:47 left in the first quarter.

Saints quarterback Jack Preston 2 for 8 passing for 23 yards and one interception. He also rushed five times for 20 yards. Pierce finished the first half with eight carries for 81 yards, and Logwood had nine carries for 72 yards.
