He defeated Foothill's Chris Wen 6-1, 6-1 in the championship match. Gu, who did not drop a set in four NCS matches, beat Alameda's Andrew Courtland in the semifinals.
LUKE BOHUSLAV, Miramonte, Jr. -- A top athlete with a deft one-handed backhand, Bohuslav earned his first Diablo Foothill Athletic League singles title. He advanced to the NCS quarterfinals, falling to Andrew Gu 6-4, 6-0. Last year, Bohuslav and Brian Tan finished second in NCS doubles.
DAN CARDIFF, Acalanes, So. -- Cardiff, another strong athlete with plenty of drive, had quality wins over Bohuslav and Dougherty Valley's Michael Wang in DFAL play. Cardiff lost to Bohuslav in the league singles championship.

MATT WANG, Piedmont, Sr. -- He teamed with Daniel Cooper to earn a third consecutive NCS Division I doubles championship with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Monte Vista's Anthony Lim and Michael Feldman. Wang, also strong in singles, teamed with his brother Jon Wang to win section doubles titles in 2010 and 2011.
