FIRST TEAM

PETER EDWARDS, De La Salle, Sr. -- Edwards, Bay Area News Group East Bay's Player of the Year, led the Spartans in kills (465) and aces (92). He was the East Bay Athletic League's Most Valuable Player and a huge reason De La Salle won back-to-back North Coast Section Division I titles.

MICHAEL WANG, Mission San Jose, Sr. -- Wang, a small but athletic outside hitter with incredible leaping ability, was named the Mission Valley Athletic League's MVP and helped the Warriors reach the NCS Division I title match. He had 12 kills in the semifinals against Deer Valley and 11 more in the title match against De La Salle.

BO HUNTER, College Park, Sr. -- Hunter, the Diablo Valley Athletic League's co-MVP, led the Falcons to a 12-0 league record and an appearance in the NCS Division I semifinals. On the season, he had 296 kills in 30 matches and an incredible 76 percent kill rate.

MARCUS LEE, Deer Valley, Jr. -- Still relatively new to volleyball, Lee kept improving in 2012 and helped the Wolverines win the Bay Valley Athletic League title. A force in the middle, Lee had 306 kills, led the team with a .470 hitting percentage and had 68 blocks as the Wolverines went 37-4 this season.

MICHAEL DOHERTY, De La Salle, Sr. -- A standout setter in his last two seasons at De La Salle, Doherty's vision and ability to put the ball exactly where he wanted to played a huge role in the back-to-back titles. For the season, he finished with 1,038 assists, 61 blocks and 53 kills.

DERRICO KWA, Deer Valley, Jr. -- It's hard to imagine just how good Kwa will be as a senior. This season, he had 1,186 assists and set school records for aces (111) and service points (333). He was the BVAL's MVP.

BRYAN LEE, Campolindo, Jr. -- Lee, a libero, was a big reason the Cougars won the Diablo Foothill Athletic League title and their second consecutive NCS Division II championship. His ability to make a pass and get the offense going relieved pressure on a young team. He finished the year with 198 digs.
