Zach Masoli threw for five touchdowns and Tre' Gunter rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown to lead the host Riordan High-San Francisco football team past St. Mary's 48-32 on Saturday.

Riordan (2-0) jumped out to a 21-0 lead, scoring three touchdowns in the final six minutes, 10 seconds of the first quarter. St. Mary's fought back to make it 28-18 at halftime, but never really threatened in the second half.

Aiden Shockley of St. Mary's (0-2) rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries in addition to playing most of the game at middle linebacker and handling kicking and punting duties. Most impressively, he appeared to be wearing down the Crusaders defense rather than the other way around, grinding out several big runs late in the game.

"It's frustrating when we don't play well in the first half when we spot them 21 points," Shockley said. "But we kept fighting and the second quarter was a lot better than the first, and we kept get better. We've just got to play a little harder in the beginning. Nobody gave up, everybody kept playing hard."
