The host Acalanes High football team rushed for 269 yards and forced four turnovers on defense to help beat Irvington 54-7 on Friday and improve to 3-0.

Running back DeShawn Johnson led Acalanes with 151 yards on 15 carries, including two touchdown runs. Peter Mitchell also had two scoring runs and a spectacular 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

The Dons defense was opportunistic all night. Tyler Supple pounced on two Viking fumbles, which were converted into Acalanes touchdowns each time.

Dons quarterback Robbie Stern played an efficient game, which included a 43-yard bomb to Supple in the second quarter. Stern completed 8 of 10 passes for 131 yards and no interceptions.

The bright spots for Irvington (1-1) were running backs Ariel Hercik and Jack Shenk, who combined for 139 rushing yards on 24 carries. Hercik set up the Vikings' lone touchdown late in the second quarter, fighting his way down to the Acalanes 1-yard line. Chauncy Jones scored on the next play.
