De Anza's offense came to life in the fourth quarter as the Dons defeated visiting Galileo in nonleague action.
The Dons struggled through the first three quarters of the game, coughing the ball up four times, but thanks to a faltering Lions offense were only down 9-0 heading into the fourth quarter.
De Anza's quarterback Myles Gaston went 4-for-4 with two touchdown passes in the second half to give the Dons the victory. Gaston opened up the forth quarter with a 55 yard bomb to Maveris Walker to put De Anza (2-1) on the board.
Then, trailing 9-6 with 49 seconds left in the game, Walker hit James Carter with a 30 yard touchdown to seal the win for the Dons.
Galileo's offense was smothered by a stingy De Anza run defense and the Lions shot themselves in the foot with false start penalties, racking up five.
Kamari Moore stepped up big for the Dons, swatting down three of the Lions passes. Elijah Ellison dominated on the De Anza line, stuffing the run and sacking Galileo quarterback Kyle Nelson once.
The Lions scored their only touchdown on a 12 yard pass from Nelson to Todd Holland early in the second quarter.
Galileo (1-2) would increase its lead to 9-0 just two possessions later as the Lions defense swarmed the Dons quarterback in his own end zone for a safety.
