FREMONT -- The Tennyson High football team dispensed of Kennedy-Fremont 34-8 on Thursday night at Tak Fudenna Stadium, capping its nonleague season with a 4-1 mark.
"For us, nonleague is important," Tennyson coach Terry Smith said. "We have a new quarterback, running back and a lot of guys who played reserve roles last year, and we needed to get them that work."
Tennyson quarterback Gilberto Magallanes was 8 of 16 passing for 152 yards and a touchdown, and running back Quinzell Moore rushed for 124 yards on 12 carries and had two touchdowns. Fellow running back Joshua Handy had 17 carries for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Defensively, the Lancers kept the Titans (1-4) in check all night. Kennedy had 114 yards of offense and just 28 in a scoreless second half.
Tennyson, which opens West Alameda County Conference Shoreline League play next week against Alameda, scored three touchdowns in just over six minutes of the second quarter to put the game away.
