Northgate's powerful rushing game -- led by Fisi Tavake, Eric Haynes and Jimmy Sharpe -- is averaging 331 yards. The Minutemen are just as strong on the ground with Washington State-committed RB Olito Thompson leading the way. But it's been the development of QB Wyatt Morrow (834 yards, 10 TDs) that's really had the Concord offense rolling the last few weeks. The Minutemen have defeated the Broncos in Diablo Valley Athletic League play each of the last four seasons. EBAL Monte Vista (4-1, 1-1) at California (5-0, 2-0), 7 p.m.A closer look: The Mustangs shook off their loss to Foothill two weeks ago to crush Granada 48-21 last week. The game was close at halftime before Monte Vista outscored the Matadors 28-7 in the second half. The Grizzlies share first place in the East Bay Athletic League after last week's 36-7 thrashing of contending Foothill. Cal allowed the Falcons only 104 yards of offense in that victory. The Grizzlies offense has been clicking, averaging 37.8 points per game and has scored at least 31 points in each game. The Eagles have a workhorse of their own in senior Brian Freeman, who has rushed for 891 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, according to CSD athletic director Kevin Kovacs.
