Despite gaining just 13 yards in the second half, the John Swett High football team shut out the host Oilers 19-0 to open the Tri-County Athletic League Stone Division.

The Indians had a balanced offense in the first half with 75 yards rushing and 74 yards through the air.

John Swett took a 6-0 lead midway through the second quarter on a 33-yard pass from Vernon Bussey to Carlos Garcia. Alex Lazaridis added to the Indians' lead on the next possession with a 38-yard touchdown run to make it 12-0.

Richmond had only 62 yards in the first half, but Tra'Von Clay provided the offensive spark with 62 yards on five carries in the second half. Unfortunately for the Oilers, their offense committed too many penalty-ending drives.

Defensively for Richmond, Davonte Anderson had two sacks.

The Indians' defense sealed the win with 3:39 left in the fourth quarter as Christian Ruaro returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and a 19-0 lead.

John Swett (3-3) entered Friday's game with two wins, which is already more victories than it had last year (zero) and matches the total of 2010. Richmond fell to 0-6 overall.
