The McClymonds High football team opened the Oakland Athletic League season the same way it closed last year: with a win over Skyline.

Quarterback Keith Williams threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score as the visiting Warriors beat the Titans 36-7 Friday in a rematch of last season's Silver Bowl. The two-time defending champions have won 15 consecutive OAL games.

"It was important that we got this first one," McClymonds coach Curtis McCauley said. "Our league is the black and blue division. Rock 'em, sock 'em football. All finesse goes out the window, and it's blocking and tackling."

The Warriors (3-3, 1-0 OAL) scored first on a 1-yard run by Williams, but Skyline answered. A 53-yard kick return by Tyrone Campbell set up the Titans (3-2, 0-1), and four plays later, Maxwell Burns scored on a 5-yard run as Skyline took a 7-6 lead.

McClymonds closed the first half strong. Williams hit Jailen Thompson for a 10-yard touchdown with 3:58 left in the second quarter. After forcing a turnover on downs, the Warriors needed just one play to score again. Williams hit Lavon Washington on a streak route for a 56-yard touchdown with 29 seconds to go in the half.

LaVance Warren added a 31-yard touchdown run in the third for the Warriors. Williams threw a 9-yard touchdown to Jermaine McCann Caluya with 26 seconds left in the game.

Williams threw for 209 yards, and Warren rushed for 95 yards on 13 carries.

Oakland Tech 45, Castlemont 0: After eligibility issues forced them to forfeit their first three games, the Knights found themselves back on the field for their OAL opener. The Bulldogs made sure it wasn't a warm greeting.

The Knights (0-4, 0-1 OAL) forced three fumbles in the first quarter, but Oakland Tech (4-2, 1-0) took over from there.

"We just got back to basics," coach Virdell Larkins said. "We started flat, maybe because of the bye week, but we made some adjustments in the blocking schemes, and the guys really picked it up."

Six players scored touchdowns for the Bulldogs, including defensive end Justice Thornton, who recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Fremont 28, Oakland 8: Azel Grasty threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns to lead the host Tigers in an OAL opener at Curt Flood Field. Tyshone Gaines caught two touchdown passes for Fremont (3-2).

Grasty and Gaines each caught a touchdown pass to give Fremont a 12-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Oakland (2-3) scored its first points by sacking Grasty in the end zone. But the Tigers responded when Gaines caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Grasty with four minutes left in the half. James Grasty ran in the 2-point conversion for a 20-2 lead.

Oakland's Tretez Custard led all rushers with 107 yards. Bishop Apodaca finished with 83 rushing yards for Fremont.
