Richmond senior Tra'von Clay ripped through Albany's defense for 271 yards and four touchdowns to lead visiting Richmond (1-7, 1-2 TCAL-Stone) to its first win of the season.

Clay's performance was made all that much more amazing considering he had just 37 yards on nine carries at halftime.

At the half, Albany (0-8, 0-3) led 12-6 and was controlling the game thanks to a pair of long touchdown passes from quarterback Nick Sternad to Jarin Panigbatan. The two connected on the first play of the game for a 49-yard score and then again on a 29-yard strike to end the first quarter. In between, Richmond's Lamont Foggy added a three-yard touchdown run to keep the game close at the break.

But when the third quarter began, so did Clay's impact.

He took the first Richmond play of the half 80 yards for a score to tie the game at 12. Following an Albany fumble on the next drive, Clay scored from 44 yards out on the third play and Richmond had a lead it would not give up.

Albany's Michael Rabin scored for Albany midway through the third quarter to close the deficit to 20-18. Rabin, the bruising runner from Albany, tallied 105 yards on 15 carries in the game.

But two plays after the Albany score, Clay scored his third touchdown, a 52-yard run that gave Richmond a 26-18 lead.

With Albany unable to mount a drive, Richmond scored on its first drive of the final quarter. Clay added his final score in the closing minute, a 32-yard run to the corner of the end zone.

Clay did his second half damage (234 yards) on just 11 carries. House added 82 yards for the Oilers in a game in which they completed only one pass.

Rabin was a bright spot for Albany, as was Panigbatan, who had three catches for 92 yards.
