THE STAT LINE: Malpede completed 17 of his 18 passes (94 percent) for 182 yards, three touchdowns -- all in the first half -- and no interceptions in the Huskies' 48-7 victory over Irvington. He also rushed for 38 yards on six carries, including a 9-yard touchdown.

Howard Wikle

SCHOOL: Valley Christian

SPORT: Football

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Running back

THE STAT LINE: Wikle had 370 rushing yards and five touchdowns in a 41-33 win over Salesian. Four of his touchdown runs came in the second half as Valley Christian rallied back from a 27-14 deficit. The win helped the Vikings earn the No. 2 seed in the North Coast Section Division IV playoffs.

Monica Chen

SCHOOL: Mission San Jose

SPORT: Golf

YEAR: Junior

THE STAT LINE: Chen was the medalist in the NCS Division I Tournament of Champions with a score of 3-under 69 at Windsor Golf Club. She had six birdies on the front nine. The Warriors also won the team title.

Jena Pianin

SCHOOL: Amador Valley

SPORT: Cross country

YEAR: Senior

THE STAT LINE: Pianin broke her own course record in repeating as East Bay Athletic League girls cross country champion at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park-Pleasanton. She became the first girl to break 17 minutes on the 2.95-mile course with a time of 16 minutes, 57.66 seconds.

BOYS

TYLER HANSON, Miramonte, cross country, Sr. -- A surge at the end helped Hanson win the Diablo Foothill Athletic League title in course-record time. He finished the 3-mile Hidden Valley Park-Martinez course in 15:18.3 and is the first runner to ever finish the course in under 15:20.

QUINZELL MOORE, Tennyson, football, Sr. -- Moore scored four touchdowns in a 48-0 victory over San Lorenzo that clinched the Lancers' first outright football title since 1970. He rushed for 105 yards, including touchdowns of 4 and 6 yards, and he returned interceptions 47 and 14 yards for touchdowns.

GIRLS

ALEX MANULI, Alhambra, water polo, Sr. -- Manuli scored nine goals, including the game-winner with 23 seconds left, to lift the Bulldogs to a 13-12 comeback win over Las Lomas in the NCS Division I quarterfinals. She also had four goals and five steals in an 11-1 first round win over Alameda.

KAELLI THIEL, Piedmont, tennis, Fr. -- Thiel swept through the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Tournament without losing a set in singles, finishing with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the final. She lost only a total of two games in her three matches in the tournament.
