Lynbrook entered the Central Coast Section Open Division girls basketball playoffs Friday night as the eighth and last seed. Sacred Heart Cathedral was the top seed after winning the West Catholic Athletic League regular-season title, which included two victories over Archbishop Mitty.
But Lynbrook advanced to the semifinals with a stunning 46-44 victory when Sacred Heart Cathedral missed an uncontested layup with 2.1 seconds left at Santa Teresa High.
The Vikings will play St. Francis on Wednesday at Oak Grove High for a trip to the final.
Annie Cheng hit two clutch 3-pointers for Lynbrook down the stretch.
Jackie Hudepohl led the Vikings with 20 points. Sara Dyslin had 13.
Lynrbook led 17-10 at halftime but Sacred Heart heated up in the third quarter behind long-distance shooting from Ge'anna Summers-Luaulu and a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Kairee Howard. Summers-Luaulu finished with 14 points.
St. Francis 45, Eastside College Prep 36: St. Francis used a stifling defense in the second half to defeat Eastside College Prep in an Open Division quarterfinal game at Santa Teresa.
The fifth-seeded Lancers outscored No. 4 seed Eastside 28-16 in the second half.
Shelbi Aimonetti scored eight of her 12 points in the third quarter, helping St. Francis (20-7) take control.
Jennifer Lucian led St. Francis with 14 points and seven rebounds. The Lancers' Daisha Abdelkader had 11 points, including
Eastside led 12-6 after one quarter as Hashima Carothers had eight of her game-high 19 points in that stretch. Carothers finished with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Destiny Graham of Eastside had 12 rebounds to go with seven points for Eastside.
St. Francis hit 14 of 18 from the foul line. Eastside was 7 of 13 from the line.

Archbishop Mitty 47, Pinewood 26: Top-seeded Archbishop Mitty cruised into the semifinals with an Open Division quarterfinal rout of Pinewood as Kelli Hayes scored 17 points.
The Monarchs advance to play Wilcox on Wednesday at Oak Grove.
Mitty led 23-2 at halftime and 39-9 after three quarters as it continued to surge after an overtime win over Sacred Heart Cathedral in the WCAL tournament final Saturday.
Wilcox 49, St. Ignatius 42: Joeseta Fatuesi scored 20 points to lead Wilcox past St. Ignatius in an Open Division quarterfinal game. The Chargers led 28-27 at halftime but trailed by four points entering the fourth. That was when Wilcox took charge, outscoring St. Ignatius 13-4 to give the Santa Clara Athletic League De Anza Division two wins in the girls Open Division quarterfinals.
