ATHERTON -- The St. Mary's High boys basketball team had two starters foul out in the fourth quarter and host Menlo School scored the final six points in a 60-54 win on Wednesday in the first round of the Northern California Division IV regional playoffs.

A technical foul on the St. Mary's bench was part of the game-ending run by No. 6 Menlo (21-7) after the Panthers' Jeremy Dennis had scored on a drive to tie the game 54-54. But Dennis, a 6-foot-5 senior guard, fouled out eight seconds later on a baseline drive by Menlo's Wes Miller, which gave the Knights the lead with 3:43 left.

Miller scored all 12 of his points in the second half to match teammates Bobby Roth and Liam Dunn.

Dennis led No. 11 St. Mary's (18-7) with 14 points.

The Knights led 27-26 at halftime after Roth hit a 3-pointer out of a timeout with 8 seconds left in the second quarter.
