MOUNTAIN VIEW -- The St. Francis High girls basketball team quelled Dublin 50-41 on Saturday night in the second round of the Northern California Division II playoffs at Raskob Memorial Gymnasium.

The top-seeded Lancers (22-8) face No. 4 Florin-Sacramento (23-9) in a home semifinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Gaels finished the season 21-10.

The Lancers, who play in the rugged West Catholic Athletic League and reached the Central Coast Section Open Division final, had too much experience for the Gaels, who put up a good fight. Dublin started one senior, one junior, two sophomores and a freshman, and the Lancers started three seniors, a junior and a sophomore.

The game turned in the second period when the Lancers outscored the Gaels 14-2 after trailing 12-4 in the first period. Shelbi Aimonetti hit a long 2-pointer for a 15-12 St. Francis lead. Lauren Johnson scored inside, the assist to Carolyn McGuire as the Lancers' run continued.

Dublin, which trailed 22-14 at the half, went on a 7-2 run to start the third period. Gaels' 6-foot-1 sophomore Jojuan Carrington scored 5 of her game-high 16 points in the period to lead the charge. A 3-pointer for Aimonetti quieted the run, but Alanna Yee answered with one of her three 3-pointers to get the Gaels within 27-26. And when Kristjan Aubry knocked down a pull-up trey, the Gaels surged to a 31-30 lead.

The Lancers' push-the-ball tempo began to tire the Gaels, who ran out of steam. St. Francis outscored Dublin 18-10 in the final frame to pull away.
