THE STAT LINE: In wins over San Ramon Valley and Tracy, Kirby was a combined 4 for 7 with three RBIs and two runs. Kirby has a .478 batting average (11 for 23) in eight games this year.

THE STAT LINE: Goerz led the Mustangs to wins over Marin Catholic-Kentfield and San Ramon Valley. Against the Wolves, she had seven goals and one assist as the Mustangs earned a 15-11 victory.

THE STAT LINE: Waters had 12 points and a game-high 20 rebounds for the Dragons in their 60-45 victory over Windward-Los Angeles in the state Open Division championship game. Her rebounding total is tied for fifth all-time for a girls state championship game, and it was the most rebounds by a girls player at the state championships since 1997.
DERRICO KWA, Deer Valley, volleyball, Sr. -- Kwa, a setter, led the Wolverines to a five-game nonleague win over Campolindo, then to the Gold Division championship of the Dougherty Valley Tournament.
TIM MAHANAY, San Leandro, baseball, Sr. -- Mahanay pitched an eight-inning shutout, giving up just three hits, as the Pirates defeated Berkeley 1-0 in a WACC game.
GEORGIA HILL, Piedmont, softball, Sr. -- Hill hit for the cycle, including a two-run home run, scored three runs, drove in three runs and pitched a three-hitter in the Highlanders' 16-1 win over Hayward in a West Alameda County Conference game.
NICOLETTE SOARES, Carondelet, softball, Sr. -- Soares hit a grand slam in a 6-0 win over Liberty and a three-run home run in a 14-3 victory over Deer Valley, as the Cougars entered this week with a 9-1 record.
