When the Sir Francis Drake High boys volleyball team dropped from Division II to Division III for North Coast Section playoff purposes, it took away a great post-season rivalry.

Campolindo had played Drake two of the previous three years in the finals, but this time had to wait for the first-ever California Interscholastic Federation Northern California playoffs to top Drake 25-17, 25-18, 25-12 on Tuesday.

"This was a nice win for us," Campolindo senior Bryan Lee said. "It feels really good because I started off my high school career losing to them in the finals and now it feels good to win as a senior."

With only two NorCal divisions, Drake (32-7), the runner-up in the NCS Division III playoffs this season, earned the No. 8 seed for NorCal purposes.

The top-seeded Cougars (40-2) were in control of this match from the beginning, trailing only once the entire time, when they were down 5-4 in the second set.

A balanced effort saw four players combine for 37 kills as Yize Dong led the way with 14. He had 10 assists as well, while Joe Worsley led host Campolindo with 27.
