Steven Farinaro, Head-Royce

Farinaro was simply dominant for the Jayhawks, leading them to the North Coast Section Division V title. He went 12-1 with a 0.82 ERA while averaging more than two strikeouts per inning (157 strikeouts in 77 innings pitched). That includes one game in which he struck out 20 of the 25 batters he faced. He had a strikeout to walk ratio of better than 8 to 1, allowing just 19 walks all season. Farinaro was the highest drafted East Bay pitcher, going in the 11th round to the St. Louis Cardinals. He signed with the team this week.

JACOB PAYNE, Granada, Sr., pitcher -- The East Bay Athletic League's Most Valuable Pitcher went 12-1 with a 0.44 ERA for the Matadors, which won the league title and won their first 20 games of the season.

DOMINIC MIROGLIO, Bishop O'Dowd, Sr., catcher -- A 40th-round pick in the MLB Draft by the A's, Miroglio batted .421 with 13 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He's signed to play at UCLA next year.

TREVOR LARNACH, College Park, So., infield -- Larnach smashed the ball, hitting .524 with four homers, seven doubles and 24 RBIs for the Falcons. He was first-team all Diablo Valley Athletic League.

ALEX MARTINEZ, James Logan, Sr., infield -- Cal-bound as a pitcher, Martinez was the Mission Valley Athletic League MVP. He hit .477 while also playing first base and helped the Colts to the league title and NCS semifinals.

JESSE MEDRANO, Clayton Valley Charter, Sr., infield -- A co-MVP of the DVAL, Medrano hit .392 with two homers and 27 RBIs for the league champion Eagles.

ROBBIE TENEROWICZ, Campolindo, Sr., infield -- The Cal-bound Tenerowicz was taken in the 39th round of the MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals. He hit .295 with six homers and 20 RBIs as the Cougars won their fourth straight NCS title.

AMALANI FUKOFUKA, James Logan, Sr., outfield -- The highest East Bay high schooler taken in the MLB Draft, Fukofuka went in the fifth round to the Kansas City Royals. He's already signed and reported. He hit .390 with 15 steals for Logan..

RYAN KIRBY, Granada, Sr., outfield -- Taken in the 40th round of the MLB Draft by the Giants, Kirby hit .390 with eight extra-base hits and 23 RBIs for the EBAL champion Matadors.

HUNTER MERCADO-HOOD, De La Salle, Sr., outfield -- The EBAL MVP hit .494 with five homers, 14 doubles, three triples and a 18 RBIs for a staggering .906 slugging percentage. He was drafted by the A's in the 38th round.

JOE DEMERS, College Park, So., utility -- DeMers, a co-MVP of the DVAL, was 10-0 with a 1.00 ERA and batted .377 with two home runs and 17 RBIs as the Falcons reached the NCS Division II semifinals.

RYAN SNYDER, Clayton Valley, Sr., pitcher -- Went 12-3 with 1.30 ERA for DVAL champions and was league's co-Most Valuable Pitcher.

DANIEL JACKSON, Amador Valley, Sr., catcher -- Led NCS Division I champs with four homers and 23 RBIs.

BRETT BINNING, Monte Vista, Sr., infield -- The Auburn-bound shortstop hit .329 with two home runs and 16 RBIs and was a first-team All-EBAL selection.

TRAVIS ROBERTS, California, Sr., infield -- Batted .402 with nine doubles, 23 RBIs and 21 run scored for the Grizzlies.

CAMERON SANTOS, California, Jr., infield -- The shortstop hit .352 with 24 runs scored for the EBAL runners-up.

DAN WHITNEY, Granada, Sr., infield -- Whitney hit .382 with 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored for Matadors.

MICHAEL ECHAVIA, Amador Valley, Sr., outfield -- Led NCS champions with a .409 batting average and added three homers and 19 RBIs.

DEVIN MAHONEY, St. Mary's, Sr., outfield -- Hit an even .500 for NCS Div. IV champions and had five homers and 30 RBIs.

BRETT STEPHENS, Campolindo, Sr., outfield -- The UCLA-bound Stephens had big two-run homer in 2-0 NCS semifinal win over Clayton Valley.

KEVIN FLEMER, St. Mary's, Sr., utility -- Was 10-1 with 1.41 ERA and hit .384 while pacing Panthers to NCS Div. IV crown.
