PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg High running back Harris Ross was named the U.S. Army All-American Bowl High School Player of the Week after rushing for 272 yards, scoring three touchdowns and breaking three school records in a 34-13 win over Freedom last week.

Ross, an Oregon State commit, broke the Pittsburg career records in rushing yards and touchdowns previously held by Ken Simonton, a former NFL running back who is now the running backs coach at Pittsburg.

Ross also broke the Pirates' single-season rushing total and tied the single-season mark in touchdowns. Ross has 1,831 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season with two regular season games still to play.

The Pirates play Deer Valley this Friday for first place in the Bay Valley Athletic League.
