Reese leads Wildcats past Dublin boys

  • Kamar Reese scored 31 points and the Dougherty Valley High boys basketball team rallied past rival Dublin 57-54 in Diablo Foothill Athletic League play on Feb. 7. Kevin Silky led Dublin with 14 points. The Wildcats outscored the visiting Gaels 20-10 in the fourth quarter after trailing 44-37 through three quarters.

    Monte Vista girls soccer blanks Amador Valley

  • The Monte Vista girls soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Amador Valley on Feb. 6. Junior Mallory Hromatko had two goals as the Mustangs clinched at least a tie for the East Bay Athletic League championship heading into this week. Amador Valley's standout goalkeeper Lexi Nicholas made 21 saves.

    Granada wrestler rolls at MSJ Invitational

  • Granada's Angel Beltran took first place at the prestigious Mission San Jose Invitational with an 11-8 win over Jared Hill of Clovis in the 145-pound championship match on Feb. 8. Beltran has also won championships at the McNair Invitational and the Bay Area Invitational, and took second at the West Coast Classic. He was ranked 17th in the state at 145 pounds as of Feb. 6.

    Amador drops thriller to DLS

  • The Amador Valley boys basketball team threw a scare into East Bay power De La Salle in a 48-47 loss on Feb. 7. The Dons outscored the Spartans 12-4 in the third quarter to take a 36-34 lead, but could not hold on. Junior point guard Rod Hajian led the Dons with 14 points. Scott Rasnick had 10 points and Brandon Ruotolo had nine. The Spartans' Devin Asiasi had a game-high 18 points.

    Johnson leads Granada past Foothill

  • Kameron Johnson had a game-high 24 points as Granada took a tight 63-59 win over Foothill to even the Matadors' EBAL mark at 5-5. Granada outscored the improving Falcons 17-13 in the fourth quarter. Seth Cobb had 16 and Tanner Wiese had 15 points, courtesy of five 3-pointers, for the young Falcons.

  • Monte Vista at San Ramon Valley, girls soccer, Feb. 13, 4 p.m. -- Expect another tight game from the Danville soccer powers who have battled to draws in their two previous matchups.

  • San Ramon Valley at De La Salle, boys basketball, Feb. 14, 7 p.m. -- The Wolves will look to avenge a 36-31 loss against the Spartans on Jan. 21

  • Rachel Hernandez, Livermore basketball -- Hernandez scored 20 points to lead the Cowboys to a 51-46 win over Amador Valley, the Cowboys' first league win of the season.

  • Angel Beltran, Granada -- Beltran won the 145-pound championship at the elite Mission San Jose Invitational.

  • Kamar Reese, Dougherty Valley -- Reese was the dominant player with 31 points in the Wildcats' 57-54 win over Dublin in the DFAL on Feb. 7.

  • Mallory Hromatko, Monte Vista soccer -- Hromatko powered in two goals in the first-place Mustangs' win over Amador Valley.

  • Lily Wissinger, Monte Vista basketball-- Wissinger poured in 28 points in a 79-55 win over California on Feb. 4.
