MORAGA -- Standout Megan Reid scored two second-half goals, both assisted by freshman Samantha Devecchi, and the Miramonte High girls soccer team put the final touches on a Diablo Foothill Athletic League championship season with a 2-0 road win over rival Campolindo on Thursday.

Miramonte (13-2-1, 10-1-1 DFAL) got rolling offensively in the second half against the determined Cougars (12-3-5, 6-3-3), who started strongly.

Devecchi, one of six quality freshmen on the Matadors squad, hit a through ball to the breaking Reid in the 45th minute, and she shot into the corner of the goal to her left.

Reid and Devecchi executed a give-and-go on the second goal five minutes later, with Reid shooting deftly into the corner again. Reid just missed scoring again a minute later shooting just past the far post from a sharp angle.

Campolindo coach Ernesto Silva, whose injury-riddled team is without its two top scorers, Emily Orwig and Bridget Coleman, was impressed as usual with Reid..

"I think, by now, we all know that Megan's a handful," Silva said. "She's in a class of her own."

Miramonte, which should receive one of the top two seeds in Division II for next week's North Coast Section playoffs, had clinched the league title outright with its 4-0 win over Acalanes on Tuesday. Campolindo finished second in the standings.
