Foothill golf wins showdown vs. DLS

  • Tanner Hughes shot a medalist score of 1-over 36 as the Foothill boys golf team bested De La Salle 189-194 in an East Bay Athletic League showdown at Castlewood Country Club's Hill Course on March 13.

  • The Dublin boys golf team won a Diablo Foothill Athletic League showdown against rival Dougherty Valley 194-201 on March 13 at Blackhawk Country Club's Falls Course.

    SRV's Barden goes six strong innings

  • Senior Alex Barden pitched six solid innings as the San Ramon Valley High baseball team beat Santa Rosa 5-1 in nonleague play on March 15. Barden allowed one hit and no earned runs, struck out four and walked none. Matt Winaker doubled twice and was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Conner Morgan worked a spotless seventh inning to get the save.

    Amador Valley wins Queen of Mountain

  • Johanna Grauer tossed a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Amador Valley softball team beat Rocklin 4-2 in the championship game of the Queen of the Mountain tournament on March 15. Grauer was also 3-for-3 with an RBI. In the first round, Sammy Salustri had a double and triple in the Dons' 4-0 win over Clovis West in eight innings on March 13. Catcher Victoria Molina had two RBIs. Grauer went the distance for the victory.

    SRV falls in NorCal hoops to McClymonds

  • The San Ramon Valley boys basketball team got 14 points and nine rebounds from forward David Gunn in a 57-48 loss to visiting McClymonds in the second round of the CIF Northern regional Division I playoffs on March 15. Jerry Karczewski led the Wolves with 18 points. Center Gregg Polosky had six points, six rebounds and four blocked shots.

    Massoni, Chabot clobbers DeAnza

  • San Ramon Valley graduate Patrick Massoni, a sophomore outfielder, was 2 for 2 with four runs scored as the Chabot College baseball team crushed DeAnza 32-1 in Golden Gate Conference action on March 14 to improve to 11-6. The Gladiators figure to get a tougher test against host College of San Mateo at noon on March 22. Massoni also doubled twice and was 3-for-5 with three RBIs in a 10-1 win over City College of San Francisco on March 13.

  • Granada at Monte Vista, baseball, March 26, 4 p.m. -- The defending EBAL champion Matadors should get a tough test against the Mustangs.

  • Dublin at Alhambra, baseball, March 25, 4 p.m. -- The Bulldogs started the season 6-2, but the competition gets tougher in DFAL play as the host the Gaels in a key early-season league clash.

  • NorCal championships, basketball, March 22, all day -- Teams will compete for a spot in the March 28-29 state championships. The Open, Division I and II games will be held at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento while Division III-V will play at American Canyon High.

  • Victoria Molina, Amador Valley softball -- Molina had two RBIs in the eighth inning, helping the Dons take a 4-0 thriller over Clovis West in the Queen of the Mountain.

  • Alex Barden, San Ramon Valley baseball -- Barden went six scoreless innings in a 5-1 nonleague win over Santa Rosa for his first pitching win.
