RICHMOND -- A 47-year-old Anderson man who was stabbed during a dispute at a homeless shelter died Sunday, and a San Pablo man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.
Larry Kittleson died Sunday at a hospital, a day after the argument erupted inside the shelter in the 800 block of Brookside Drive, Richmond police Capt. Mark Gagan said.
The argument started around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, and the main suspect in the stabbing, 37-year-old Jeberiah Moore, fled the scene before officers arrived, Gagan said. Police found Moore two hours later, hiding in a culvert a mile away from the shelter, Gagan said. He was taken to County Jail in Martinez, where he was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Police did not say why the argument broke out or what connection the two men may have had to one another, if any.
The homicide was the 16th this year in the city of Richmond, a total that includes the fatal shooting of a man at the Richmond BART station in March. In 2012, there were 18 homicides in Richmond.
