Dogs trained to detect historical human remains responded to the same area on the property of accused kidnappers Phillip and Nancy Garrido where ground-penetrating radar and cadaver dogs indicated something was awry last week.
The dogs reacted to the area early this morning, Hayward police Lt. Christine Orrey said during a morning news conference. Authorities would not reveal the location in the backyard.
Crews were seen digging in the backyard this morning.
The Garridos have been charged with kidnapping Jaycee Dugard in 1991 and hiding her in their backyard. They have pleaded not guilty.
