Cougars make a splash

  • The Campolindo High boys water polo team recorded an important Diablo Foothill Athletic League win on Oct. 3, beating Las Lomas 13-10. J.D. Ratchford, Grant Sivesind and Dylan Fara all contributed four goals in the victory. The win, Campolindo's first over the Knights since 2009, kept the Cougars unbeaten after two weeks of league play.

    Knights keep rolling

  • The Las Lomas High girls volleyball team earned its seventh straight win by beating Miramonte 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 on Oct. 4 to remain in second place in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League standings. Rachel Linden had 35 assists while Maddie Borch provided 10 kills and 10 digs. Las Lomas has also beaten Alhambra, Acalanes and Dublin in league play.

    Eagles enjoy another comfortable win

  • The Clayton Valley Charter High football team continues to steamroll every team in its path. The Eagles romped over Ygnacio Valley 69-22 in a Diablo Valley Athletic League game on Oct. 5, piling up 581 yards of offense. It was Clayton Valley's fifth straight win, and the fifth straight time it has scored at least 55 points in a game. Joe Protheroe had 267 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just six carries, and Michael Protheroe scored two touchdowns.

  • Las Lomas at Campolindo, football, Oct. 12, 7 p.m. -- The Knights, coming off an impressive 31-14 win over Dublin on Oct. 5, travel to Moraga to face defending league champion Campolindo. The Cougars lead the DFAL standings with a 2-0 record, and Las Lomas is 2-1.

  • College Park at Clayton Valley, football, Oct. 12, 7 p.m. -- Can anyone slow down Clayton Valley's offense? College Park will certainly try in a key DVAL game for both teams.

  • DVAL championships, girls golf, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. -- DVAL squads can qualify for the postseason with good showings at the leauge tournament. The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams will move on to either the Division I qualifer or Tournament of Champions.

  • Campolindo at Miramonte, girls volleyball, Oct. 16, 6;30 p.m. -- The defending DFAL champion Cougars have been rolling through league play. Can their chief rival spoil their run?

  • Elizabeth Schultz, Acalanes girls golf -- Schultz had an excellent round at the Franklin Canyon Golf Course on Oct. 4, carding a 2-under 34 to help the Dons beat Alhambra 242-255 in a DFAL match.

  • Joe Pelletier, Northgate football -- Threw two touchdown passes for the Broncos, but also led a defense that shut out Concord in the second half of their 28-20 DVAL win on Oct. 5.

  • Lauren Ipsen, Carondelet girls golf -- Ipsen carded a 2-over par 35 to help the Cougars beat San Ramon Valley 188-239 on Oct. 2.

  • Joe Protheroe, Clayton Valley football -- The senior running back scored three touchdowns and rushed for 267 yards to lead the Eagles to a 69-22 win over Ygnacio Valley on Oct. 5.
