Lamorinda Travelball

12U Division

The Lamorinda Spartans 12-and-under baseball team had a 69-10 record and traveled 23,000 miles throughout the 2013 season and became the No. 1 travel ball team in the country.

Lamorinda finished the 2013 season with Championships in 13 of the 16 tournaments it entered. Of their 79 games, 34 of them were against teams ranked in the top 25 in the country, and 13 of those against teams in the top five.

In seven of their 13 Championships the Spartans had to beat a top 10 team in the final game, and five of those wins came against top five teams.

The Spartans won two NorCal Super NIT's, three TBS Super-Regionals (Norcal, Socal, and Las Vegas), the VTV Invitational in Santa Clarita, the Super Series World Series, the Pee Wee Reece World Series in Puerto Rico, and the TBS National Championships in Los Angeles.

On Sept. 16, the Spartans top three players were recognized by TBS. Javier Felix was noted as possibly the best west coast player, and frontrunner for Player of the Year, Adrian Flores was described as a strong hitter and an amazing catcher, who is mechanically solid and has exceptional pop-time. Xavier Carter was described as a big game pitcher who effectively works the strike zone and a great No. 3 hitter.

The Lamorinda Spartans and coach Rick Rider were named the TBS National Champions with three players being selected as first team All-Americans.

Their roster consisted of Adrian Flores, Armando Alverez, Brennan Keil, Dandre Gaines, Daylen Carter, Graeme Farrell, Israel Quintana, Javier Felix, Joshua Alvarado, Lucas Allen, Nathan Nicosia, Nicolas Lopez and Sean Lee.
