Carson is Contra Costa Animal Services' Pet of the Week for Oct. 3.

COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES

Carson is an 11-month-old shepherd mix who was found abandoned, cold and starving as a puppy by a worker on a temporary job in New Mexico. He has been a much-loved member of his California foster family since. He loves people and other dogs, is fully house trained, not too active and has attended obedience school. If you are interested in adopting Carson, who is already a great dog park and family dog, call Animal Services volunteer Scott at 707-748-1395.

HUMANE SOCIETY

Russ is a beautiful, long-haired orange kitty who loves the company of adults. Very social, he soaks up petting and affection and purrs at the drop of a hat. Russ would like to be an only cat and have a home where he's allowed some time outdoors during the day in a protected yard or patio. He is 10 years old, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and FeLV/FIV negative. For more information, visit the Contra Costa Humane Society at www.cchumane.org.
