Cougars claim DFAL football title

  • The Campolindo High football team finished off its second unbeaten regular season in three years with a 50-24 victory over Dublin on Nov. 8. The win gave the Cougars the Diablo Foothill Athletic League championship for the third consecutive season. Andrew Zolintakis was efficient, completing 13 of 17 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Fadelli rushed for 101 yards and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a score. Campolindo earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the North Coast Section Division III playoffs.

    Knights advance in water polo

  • Las Lomas High's boys and girls water polo teams advanced to the North Coast Section Division I semifinals with quarterfinals wins over familiar opponents. The boys avenged a loss to Sir Francis Drake, getting four goals from Jacob Halle to win 14-5. The girls topped Diablo Foothill Athletic League foe Alhambra 8-5 with freshman Roxy Wheateon scoring a team-high three goals. Semifinal results from Nov. 13 were not available at press time.

    Eagles repeat as DVAL champs

  • The Clayton Valley Charter High football team earned a second consecutive Diablo Valley Athletic League title after beating Northgate 56-28 on Nov. 8. Junior running back Miles Harrison had his best game of the season, rushing for 295 yards and five touchdowns. Northgate could have forced the Eagles to share the DVAL title with a win, but Clayton Valley took a 20-0 lead in the first half to run away with the game.

  • Sonoma Valley at Acalanes, football, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. -- The Dons finished the regular season 7-3 to earn the No. 7 seed in the NCS Division III playoffs. If they win their opener, they will face No. 2 Campolindo in the quarterfinals.

  • North Coast Section championships, water polo, Nov. 16, TBA -- Acalanes High is slated to host all four section finals in what should be an exciting day of water polo.

  • Las Lomas at Washington, football, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. -- The No. 7 seeded Knights must hit the road to play No. 10 Washington, which won the Mission Valley Athletic League, in their North Coast Section Division II playoff opener.

  • Newark Memorial at Concord, football, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. -- The Minutemen earned the No. 5 seed in the NCS Division II playoffs and a first-round date with the Cougars of the MVAL.

  • Drew Anderson, Miramonte football -- The senior quarterback had another monster game, completing 18 of 24 passes for 333 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-28 win over Alhambra on Nov. 8.

  • Aidan Goltra, Campolindo boys cross country -- The Cougars' standout raced to the DFAL title at the league championships in Pleasanton on Nov. 9, finishing the 2.95-mile course in 14:48.7.

  • Brighie Leach, Campolindo girls cross country -- Leach led the Cougars to another team title at the DFAL championships, winning the 2.95-mile girls race in Pleasanton with a time of 17:33.9.

  • Isabella vonEbbe, Acalanes girls tennis -- vonEbbe advanced to the DFAL singles final, but lost to Dougherty Valley's Rickimae Torres to take second place in the tournament Nov. 8.

  • Miles Harrison, Clayton Valley Charter football -- The junior rushed for 295 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Eagles to an outright DVAL championship and a 56-28 win over Northgate on Nov. 8.
