Project LPIE award reception and open house slated for May

An award reception and open house for Acalanes High School students participating in project-based learning will be held in May.

As part of Project LPIE, sponsored by Lafayette Partners in Education and Acalanes High School, students compete in any of 13 categories showcasing their skills in and out of the curriculum. Student submissions include projects in acting, applied design, community service, creative writing, vocal music and photography. Judging is done by professional business leaders.

All projects will be displayed and winners recognized at the award reception beginning at 4 p.m. May 16. An open house will be held May 17 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The events will be held at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.

Lamorinda school districts name Teacher-of-Year reps

Lamorinda school district have named their Teachers of the Year representatives who are eligible to compete in the Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year competition that culminates with a dinner celebration in September.

The following teachers have been named representatives: Jane Kelson, Campolindo High School, Acalanes High School District; Tricia Newhart, Del Rey Elementary, Orinda Union School District; Ann Ralph, Donald Rheem Elementary, Moraga School District and Olivia Vann, Springhill Elementary, Lafayette School District.
