Miramonte defeats Acalanes Miramonte High's baseball team won its third straight Diablo Foothill Athletic League game, topping Acalanes 4-2 on the road on April 17. James Vaccaro gave up just two hits in 62/3 innings to lead Miramonte while Bennett Stehr was 1 for 1 with a double and two runs. Earlier in the week, Miramonte earned a 7-1 road win over Dublin.

Vikings shine at Big 8 meet Dominic Baldwin, Kelsey Leonard and Allison Gargalikis all earned "athlete of the meet" honors to lead a strong effort from the Diablo Valley College swim team at the Big 8 championships held April 17-19. Baldwin, a Campolindo graduate, helped the men's team earn the team title and garnered a "performance of the meet" honor for winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:04.13. He also won the 400 I.M. Gargalikis (Carondelet) and Leonard (Las Lomas) helped the women's team to second place and were part of the 200-yard medley relay team that was named "performance of the meet." Gargalikis and Leonard also won three individual events each.

Knights lacrosse continues surge Las Lomas High's boys lacrosse team stayed unbeaten in Diablo Foothill Athletic League play with a 14-7 victory over Campolindo on April 18. The Knights topped Alhambra 15-1 earlier in the week and were unbeaten in DFAL play at 6-0 entering the week of April 21. Colin Rutan had five goals and four assists, while goalkeeper Sam Tomei stopped 16 shots in the victory over Campo.

DVAL championships, boys tennis, April 29-May 1, time TBA -- League finals in boys tennis help kick off the postseason for spring sports.
Stars of the week Kate Fellner, Acalanes girls lacrosse -- Fellner scored four goals, helping the Dons come back from a halftime deficit to edge Miramonte 12-10 in DFAL action on April 16. Gina Pagan, Miramonte softball -- The senior went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer and also pitched a complete game as the Matadors earned an exciting 5-4 victory over Acalanes on April 17. Pagan struck out 13, gave up just two hits and allowed only one earned run. Dominic Baldwin, Diablo Valley College swimming -- The freshman and Campolindo High graduate was named a co-athlete of the meet after helping DVC win the team title at the Big 8 championships. He also earned a "performance of the meet" honor for winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:04.13. Noah Burnham and Joe DeMers, College Park baseball -- Burnham delivered the game-winning single that scored DeMers as the Falcons earned a 2-1 walk-off win over Drake in 11 innings on April 19. DeMers pitched five innings of relief without allowing a hit to earn the win. Allison Gargalikis, Diablo Valley swimming -- The former Carondelet High star won all three of her individual events, the 50-yard butterfly, 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, to earn co-athlete of the meet honors with teammate Kelsey Leonard at the Big 8 championships from April 17-19. Dennis Karas, Campolindo baseball -- In an 8-1 win over Dublin that kept the Cougars perfect in DFAL action on April 17, the senior went 4 for 4 with four runs and four RBIs. Colin Rutan, Las Lomas boys lacrosse -- Rutan continued his fine season with five goals and four assists in a 14-7 win over Campolindo on April 18. Ethan Utler, Clayton Valley Charter baseball -- The senior catcher hit a towering two-run home run in the fourth inning to lift the Eagles to a 2-1 win over Northgate on April 17. In two narrow wins over the Broncos, Utler went 4 for 7 with four RBIs and two runs.
