Jazz Band/Flute Choir holiday concert
The Civic Arts Jazz Band and Flute Choir will perform a holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Civic Arts Shadelands Auditorium, 111 N. Wiget Lane in Walnut Creek.
Swing into the holiday season with the 1953 classic "Santa Baby" or thrill to the strains of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." The Jazz Band will perform everything from gospel funk to hard bop swing to romantic ballads. Under the leadership of Max Pricco, the group will also play "April in Paris" using the arrangement by the "Tonight Show's" famed Doc Severinsen, as well as featuring the alto saxophone on the bluesy "Since I Fell For You" by Buddie Johnson.
The Flock of Flutes, helmed by Monica Williams, will "play everything from classical to jazz and have even had new works written especially for the flock," she said. That will include Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" as well as Deborah Anderson's "States of Mind" for six-part flute choir and Keith Amos' "Sudeley Castle."

Mic Gillette's 'MGB' CD release party Dec. 19
MGB, the band led by Tower of Power alumnus Mic Gillette, will have a CD release party and show Dec. 19 at Red House Studios in Walnut Creek.
The CD is the band's first, "Moon Doggy." The band plays urban soul, funk, jazz and rock, including a few TOP songs featuring trombonist Gillette, as well as several originals.
"North Pole Revue," a long-running holiday classic,
will be presented through Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive,
Remaining performances take place Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:15 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2:15 p.m.
Center Stage Theater of Diablo Valley features young actors from all over Contra Costa County, and these holiday performances are appropriate for all ages.

Holiday collection at Valley Art Gallery
The 48th Annual Holiday Collection at the Valley Art Gallery features one-of-a kind gifts that support for local artists and the local community.
On hand through Dec. 31 are special holiday gift items plus a huge variety of works from more than 100 other Bay Area artists on the gallery's 30 rolling walls. Visitors can enjoy moving the walls and viewing the works at their own pace, or with the assistance of gallery volunteers; this extensive collection in different artistic styles, mediums and prices offers something for every art lover's taste and budget.
Also, art pieces can be rented for three-month periods, and the first year's rental fees (minus tax) can be applied to eventual purchase.

'World of Webber' a cabaret tribute
"The World of Webber," celebrating the songs and musicals of Broadway and Musical Theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be staged by Esses Productions at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek.
To be performed in intimate "cabaret" concert style by singers Tielle Baker, Kelly Brandeburg and Kyle Martin, with piano accompaniment. the revue features Webber classics from musicals like "The Phantom of the Opera," "Cats," "Evita" "Jesus Christ Superstar" and several others.
