LIVERMORE -- To usher in the New Year, a celebration of traditional African music and culture is returning to Livermore's Bothwell Arts Center on Dec. 29.
From 3 to 6 p.m, the Cheza Nami Foundation will be presenting an afternoon of African discussion, arts, music and a drum circle, in collaboration with visual and performance artists from Kenya.
The event will allow visitors to experience African culture through visual arts by artist Wawi Amasha, art collective Omiiroo studios, writer Ngene Mwaura, and an acoustic set from singer-songwriter Nasambu Wamalwa.
Activities include African-style face painting for children, conversations with the artists, drumming and dance. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $10 online, $15 at the door. Children enter free.
The Bothwell Arts Center is at 2466 8th St., Livermore.
