LIVERMORE -- Police are searching for a man who was reportedly seen shoving a topless woman into a car and driving away with her Monday, authorities said.

A resident in a home overlooking Scenic Avenue at N. Vasco Road called 911 at 11:20 a.m. to report he had heard a commotion outside of his house, then looked outside to see a man forcibly pushing a bare-chested young woman into a car, Sergeant John Hurd said. After shoving the woman into the vehicle, the man got in the driver's seat and drove away northbound on N. Vasco Road.

The vehicle was described as a maroon, four-door "import-type" vehicle with a gold emblem on the rear, Hurd said. The man was described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old, with brown hair, a medium build and wearing a dark-colored shirt. The woman was described as a white female between 18 and 25 years old with blonde hair.

"It is unknown at this time what, if any, crime occurred," Hurd said. "We just don't know what happened."

Officers found items in the roadway that they collected as evidence, along with a surveillance video from a nearby business that captured the vehicle on tape, Hurd said.
