Tri-Valley CYO 7A Boys Championship

CCOP 42, St. Isidore 22: Playing a solid St. Isidore team, CCOP 7A Boys demonstrated tenacious defense and unselfish teamwork on offense to claim the 7A Boys CYO title on Feb. 24 at San Ramon Valley High School. The teams split league games, giving CCOP its only loss during the regular season. After a slow start, CCOP's defensive pressure, ferocious rebounding and ball movement on offense gave CCOP a 21-7 lead at the half. St. Isidore threatened with a run at the end of the third quarter, but CCOP responded in the final period to extend the lead and secure the title.

Boys-U14, Division 1

Ballistic Premier 99' 1, Pacific Soccer Academy 0: The Ballistic Premier 99 U14 boys soccer team closed out the NorCal National Premier League Winter season with a dramatic win over Pacific Soccer Academy. With the game tied 0-0 left back Kyle McClanahan sent an early cross in behind the defense. Striker Blake Tucker pressured the onrushing PSA keeper forcing a poor clearance that ended up on the foot of Youki Chiba. Chiba, seeing the keeper was caught well off his line chipped the ball into the goal from 25 yards out for the game winner with two minutes remaining.

In the first half Ballistic nearly scored in the 14th minute when Blake Tuckers shot to the far post was nearly headed into the goal by Sam Christensen. Keeper Blake Staniford and his back line of Chris Machi, Jacob Dremalas, Imran Matin, and Kyle McClahanan put in a fine effort to earn the clean sheet. Top players for the Ballistic were: Black Tucker, Youki Chiba, Imran Matin, Blake Staniford, and Kyle McClanahan.

The Premier 99 finish the Winter season with a record of 4 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses.

West Coast Soccer

An impressive group of nine West Coast Soccer players signed last week with college programs, and Director of West Coast Soccer Troy Dayak expects more of his players to make commitments soon.

The current list includes two players going to local Division 1 program Sacramento State, defender Rachel Leonard of Livermore and forward Adaurie Dayak from Tracy. Others making commitments were Regan Smithers of Modesto heading to California State Long Beach. Creighton University signs West Coast U17 Kryptonite player and captain Grace Cabri from Tracy Ca; Livermore native Brooke Rittmann will be flying high signing with Air Force Academy in Colorado; Holy Names University signs Tayler Lennier from Tracy Ca; while twin sister Amber Lennier signs with Corban University-Oregon; Dominican University picks up Stephanie Pawek from Tracy; and University of Pacific-Stockton signs local Stockton resident Ebony Ezeji.
